John with SC Congressman Trey Gowdy

Due to Emmet County Republican Party Executive Board member John Ferguson’s move out West, Chair Dennis Kelly sent out this email to the elected precinct delegates:

“On January 21st, 2018 the Executive received a resignation from one of our members.  According to our bylaws we shall hold an election for nominees to fill the vacancy at our next Executive Committee Meeting which will be held on February 26, 2018.

The purpose of the Executive Committee is to perform all duties provided by law and such other duties not prohibited by law as will benefit the welfare of the Republicans of Emmet County.  The duties of the Executive Committee shall be to establish general policy for and conduct the affairs of the local party.

If you have a desire to serve your party and community, please respond to this notice prior to Monday February 26, 2018.  If elected, you will fill this vacancy as a member of the Executive Committee until the end of December 31, 2018.”

Note: One must be a GOP precinct delegate to be a candidate for this vacancy. For further info, email the chair @ denniskelly at charter dot net.

And all the best to John – a committed patriot and retired state trooper – and his family as they begin a new adventure in their lives.

2/20 Update:  Three precinct delegates have declared themselves candidates. They are: Christopher Baughman, City of Harbor Springs; Mary Jane Zako, West Traverse Twp.; and Fred Simons, City of Harbor Springs.

3/1 Update: Fred was elected to fill the position. Congrats to him, and a “thank you” to the other candidates – M.J. and Christopher – that stepped forward.
