Mr. Jesse Osmer, Michigan’s First District Congressional District Republican Chair and Alpena resident, spoke to the Emmet County Republican Party on January 9 at Northern Lights Recreation in Harbor Springs.  He discussed his desire to continue serving as District Chairman and offered an update about his campaign. Mr. Osmer has the endorsements of the Republican Michigan House of Representatives delegation who hail from northern Michigan and the Upper Peninsula.

Incumbent Osmer has one opponent for this position –  Mr. Jason Allen, a former Michigan state senator, veteran, and small business owner. Mr. Allen, who is from Traverse City, says he is vying for the position of chair at the request of new Congressman Jack Bergman, MI-01.

The election for the chair – a two-year term – will take place on Feb. 10, 2017 at the First District caucus. The caucus will be held in Lansing at the Lansing Center. For further information about the caucus and the upcoming convention, go here.
